Happy New Year

Happy 2009!

Only 13 more days until our little one turns ONE! I can't believe how fast 2008 went by.
Cameron started standing on his own three weeks ago. At first, we were calling him "Superman" because of his outstretched arms during his attempts. Now, he is officially walking on his own. It started with just a few steps on his own, walking from Mommy to Daddy or Daddy to Mommy. On Christmas Eve, he took six steps. And, everyday since then, he has taken more steps. It is cute watching him conquer this new feat. We call his walk the "Frankenstein". With arms stretched out and eyes wide open, Cameron slowly takes a step and then another, and then another. With each new step, you can see a sense of pride and accomplishment on his face. He is just beaming! Cameron gets so beside himself that he ends up losing his balance and falling down. He broke his long-standing record of 20 steps (recorded on Monday, December 29) last night. He took 30 steps, so now we have officially stopped counting. Cameron is even turning and walking and is better able to catch his balance. Oh my! My baby is growing up too fast!

Happy 11 Months!

Highlights:
1) Officially standing on own.
2) Saying "dada", "baba", "yaya", "wawa", "vava" and "nana" ----- what about "mama"???
3) Understands and responds to various "commands"(i.e. "show me your tongue", "clap your hands" and "stomp your feet" during the "Happy and you know it" song; he can even "wai" when verbally prompted....the "wai" is the hand gesture used to accompany the Thai greeting or salutation for hello & goodbye)
4) Imitates facial expressions and some sign language (i.e. sign for "milk" and "pretty lady to the left" ----ask Jeff about that one)
5) Loves to eat! Goodbye pureed food....hello to real solid food.
6) We bought him his first pair of EXTRA-WIDE shoes (well, we actually bought three pairs of shoes).

Fun with Flapjacks

A few days ago Nita, Cameron and I were in the mood for pancakes. While Nita was tending to Cameron I decided to "play with my food".

Frank and Olga's Thai Wedding Ceremony

My brother and sister-in-law had their Thai wedding/water ceremony today. Olga looked beautiful in her Thai costume. Knowing very little of the Thai tradition and ritual, both Frank and Olga did a great job today. Obviously, we did not take a lot of pictures of the celebrated couple. But, we sure took a lot of our little Cameron :-)

Our little monkey

Cameron's debut as a monkey started early in the morning at mommy's workout class (Stroller Strides). One of the mommies set up a little photo opt corner, so here he is:

Afterwards, we went to Cameron's gym class where he got to dress up once again in his little monkey suit. Yes....it is a monkey suit, not a little Ewok (ahem, Jen C.) But I do agree with my friend that he does look like a Ewok sitting next to baby Yoda.

Here is Cameron and Andersen at a Halloween festival later that day:

Daddy Jeff is supposed to be a man on a safari:

Cameron looks absolutely thrilled to be a monkey!

Time for trick or treating!

Cameron at the gym

Highlights from gym class:
1) Cameron was not a very compliant student when it came down to having to lie on his back so that I could move his legs in a bicycle motion and/or massage his body. He kept twisting and turning to see what the other babies were doing. Nosy!
2) Enjoyed the "whoop-de-do" move. Too hard to describe, but essentially I was flipping him over, but backwards.
3) Cameron was able to stand himself up while holding on to one of the parallel bars.
4) Cameron loves music and shaking. He was probably one of only a couple kids to actually shake his bells and bang his rhythm sticks independently. His teacher kept acknowledging only Cameron for being the "musician" of the bunch. (yes...i'm proud.)

Happy Anniversary, Jeffrey and Nita

Anniversary poem by Mom Wong:

Cotton for anniversary two
It's weave is woven strong through and through
You have a tight bond so very true.

Cotton for anniversary two
Cotton is light, you're aware
You're a "cool" pair with much flair.

Cotton for anniversary two
Cotton is versatile
You two move with great style.

Cotton for anniversary two
It is fabric highly durable
Your stability is desirable.

Cotton for anniversary two
Smooth or bumpy is cotton's texture
Your combination is the measure.

It was fate
on the September 9 date.
You united as one
A perfect pair still having fun.

Fun at the Playground

This past Sunday, we went to Black Hills Regional Park. This was our first time there as a family and Cameron's first time exploring a playground.

We started the morning off with a nice stroll on the bike trail.

First time on the see-saw. I got a little nauseous from going up and down, up and down.....

Weeeee! That was fun!
Another playground favorite!
