A Love Letter to Last Throughout the Long Weekend

(Friday, March 6, 2009)
Cameron is now taking his morning nap and it's a good one...one-and-a-half hours and counting...wooohooo!

Well, early this morning my lovely wife left me an extended love letter on the refrigerator. It's so romantic I had to document it and post it on Wongology to display to the world. As you can see Nita was very creative with how she organized and color coordinated the pages. The presentation is extremely pleasing to the eye I must admit. It definitely caught my eye when I made my way into the kitchen at 6AM! I remember when love letters were short and sweet. Now, as we grow together as a family the love letters grow too.

Today's letter, not a Cliffs Notes version, was instructions for the weekend. And I am very thankful for the notes!

(Saturday, March 7, 2009)
Nita and her friend, Abbey, went to Savannah, GA to meet up with their friend Elicia, who is temporarily working down there for about a month. I'm home with Cameron having a great time. Yesterday we spent some time with Nita's mother (Mom T) and had lunch at Rooster Thai Chicken in Silver Spring. There, Cameron ate his favorite chicken dish and had a fun time making faces at other guests. He was so energized during the day that he skipped his afternoon nap and kept Mom T and me on our toes. Last night was challenging. Cameron was constantly looking for mommy and pointing to places where he though she might have been hiding. Eventually, he calmed down and pointed me in the direction of my french fries from lunch. I gave him one to hold (not to eat) and he held onto his "comfort food" until he fell asleep for the night.

What a beautiful day it is outside today! C&O canal here we come!

Cameron and The Young & The Restless

So, the only show I get to watch during the day is "The Young and the Restless". I've been watching this show for years, probably since the early 80's. I guess I have been watching it too much around Cameron, because now he is very familiar with the theme song. At first, he would hum along with the tune. Just recently, we caught him "dancing" to the song. It's really cute.....Cameron would stop his play and start turning in circles. We are not sure where he got this from. Maybe we've been doing too much "Ring Around the Rosie" with him. Check out the video! You may need to turn up the volume. Oh, and pay attention to his humming too.

Snow Day!

More party pics

Cameron's Winter ONE-derland Parties

We celebrated Cameron's first birthday party again this past weekend. Last weekend we celebrated with just family members. This past weekend, we celebrated with friends. We actually had two party sessions on Saturday in order to fit everyone in our home. Jeff's mom was the "entertainment". Jeff's mom, Mrs. Wong delighted us all with songs, storytime and lots of bubbles! It was a lot of fun.

Thank you to all those who came out and celebrated with us. You helped made Cameron's first birthday a very memorable one. Special thanks to Mom/Mrs. Wong for entertaining the little ones and for helping with everything. Thanks Lauren and Abbey for helping, too.

And, special thanks to DH, Jeff who stayed up at 5:00 in the morning last weekend to complete the slideshow and to help me decorate the house. Thanks for cleaning up this weekend, too! :-)

Happy New Year

Happy 2009!

Only 13 more days until our little one turns ONE! I can't believe how fast 2008 went by.
Cameron started standing on his own three weeks ago. At first, we were calling him "Superman" because of his outstretched arms during his attempts. Now, he is officially walking on his own. It started with just a few steps on his own, walking from Mommy to Daddy or Daddy to Mommy. On Christmas Eve, he took six steps. And, everyday since then, he has taken more steps. It is cute watching him conquer this new feat. We call his walk the "Frankenstein". With arms stretched out and eyes wide open, Cameron slowly takes a step and then another, and then another. With each new step, you can see a sense of pride and accomplishment on his face. He is just beaming! Cameron gets so beside himself that he ends up losing his balance and falling down. He broke his long-standing record of 20 steps (recorded on Monday, December 29) last night. He took 30 steps, so now we have officially stopped counting. Cameron is even turning and walking and is better able to catch his balance. Oh my! My baby is growing up too fast!

1) Officially standing on own.

3) Understands and responds to various "commands"(i.e. "show me your tongue", "clap your hands" and "stomp your feet" during the "Happy and you know it" song; he can even "wai" when verbally prompted....the "wai" is the hand gesture used to accompany the Thai greeting or salutation for hello & goodbye)
4) Imitates facial expressions and some sign language (i.e. sign for "milk" and "pretty lady to the left" ----ask Jeff about that one)
5) Loves to eat! Goodbye pureed food....hello to real solid food.
6) We bought him his first pair of EXTRA-WIDE shoes (well, we actually bought three pairs of shoes).
7) He has five pearly whites and more coming out.

Fun with Flapjacks

A few days ago Nita, Cameron and I were in the mood for pancakes. While Nita was tending to Cameron I decided to "play with my food".

Happy 10 Months!

We can't believe that Cameron is 10 months already! Time sure goes by fast. Let's see what can I say about Cameron this month.

1) 20.5 pounds
2) Cruising, cruising, cruising.
3) Able to walk and push his push toys independently.
4) Can clap his hands independently; he even knows to clap when he hears "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands"(song).
5) Saying baba and vava (what happened to dada or mama?)
6) Will say buh, buh when he sees bubbles and after verbal prompts.
7) Eating table foods (yogurt, cheese, noodles, rice, chicken, pasta, toast)

Frank and Olga's Thai Wedding Ceremony

My brother and sister-in-law had their Thai wedding/water ceremony today. Olga looked beautiful in her Thai costume. Knowing very little of the Thai tradition and ritual, both Frank and Olga did a great job today. Obviously, we did not take a lot of pictures of the celebrated couple. But, we sure took a lot of our little Cameron :-)
