We celebrated our first wedding anniversary in NYC over the Labor Day weekend. Can you believe a year has gone by? Where did the time go? It has truly been an exciting and memorable year! Back to NYC......we took the Vamoose bus to the city - we highly recommend this bus line as opposed to the Chinatown bus companies. This bus line was much more organized and definitely much more convenient for us to get to. We arrived in NYC in 3.5 hours and headed straight to our hotel. We stayed right next to Central Park in this very quaint hotel. The width of our room was the length of both of our arms stretched out side by side. Our fingertips were literally touching the side of the walls. Thank goodness we did not spend much time in our room. We spent most of the day strolling in Central Park. There was a big crowd gathered in this one location by the lake. Of course, we had to check it out. There were three breakdancers performing their gig and doing tricks. It was about that time to get some audience participation. Jeff and I decided to sit on the steps closer to the performers just to get a better view. Big mistake! Jeff got picked to be the token Asian man in the performance along with three young ladies. They called him "Jet Li" - hahaha! All they had to do was stand side by side hunched over as they wait for the grand finale which consisted of one of the dancers running and jumping over the four participants. Thank goodness Jeff made it through the performance unscathed.
That night we had dinner at the famous Tavern on the Green. Unfortunately, we opted to sit inside and did not see the outside dining area until afterwards. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful, with twinkle lights and colorful lanterns dangling from the tree top.
The next day we went to the see the much anticipated "Grease" show. We both love Broadway plays and musicals, so when the competition show "Grease-You're the One that I Want" aired earlier this year, we were glued to the T.V. We were routing for the ultimate winners, Laura and Max (a.k.a., Sandy and Danny). The show was fantastic; Laura and Max did such an incredible job! It was cool to watch their progression in the competition on T.V. and then to actually see them LIVE and in person.
What a better way to end our summer of traveling and to celebrate our anniversary! Can't wait for what's in store for 2008!
